Alice in Wonderland icons - Animated

I lied. The previous set of icons wasn't technically the last. I'm making a few animated ones. Here're the ones I have so far, if anybody wants any of them. As with any icons I'm never really sure if I want to use them until they're done and I see how they look, so I always end up with more than I actually use.

Previous, static icons can be found here, here, and here.

Alice in Wonderland icons - Round 3

Here's the final batch of Alice in Wonderland icons (previous icons can be found here and here). This group has the most. I think it's because of my Hatter love. Whatever the reason, I really enjoyed making all these icons. I'm gonna have a tough time choosing my favorites to use. Watching the movie with the goal of picking out interesting and pretty images made me appreciate how artistically impressive it is.

As previously mentioned anybody can take as many of these icons they want, just please give me credit for making them.

I do believe I'm about to watch Disney's Alice in Wonderland with the goal of getting screengrabs and perhaps some animation grabs. If anybody is interested in me posting what I get for use as icons let me know.

Email change

I've officially gotten tired of "febbik@yahoo.com" so I'm changing my main email address to "gracemakesart@yahoo.com" Make changes to address books and Yahoo Messenger contact lists if you need to.

I'm also tired of my actual name being taken when it comes to usernames. That's why I used to use "febbik" so much in the past. I never had to worry about it already being used by someone. But "gracemakesart" always seems to be free so it's my new default username for things. It'll also be the name of my redesigned website, whenever I finish redesigning the thing. I'm trying to consolidate usernames. I'll keep this LJ and my DA accounts under "febbik", though, because it would be a hassle to change over.

Dream Stuff

Hey people who can read Japanese! I need your help. This is a symbol/shape that was in a dream I had last night.

It sort of looks like it could be a Japanese character so I'm curious how close it might be to being one. I'd actually prefer if it didn't look too much like an actual character so I could use it for something, confident it had no predetermined meaning.

The symbol was accompanied by a word I can't quite remember. "Rhythm" and "rhetoric" seem close, and after a bit of browsing in the dictionary I kind of like the word "rhumb", since the blocky symbol in question was a representation of two curling shapes that were intersecting. Maybe combine "rhumb" with another word. Rhumbody. Rhumbiotic. Rhumbiosis. Something like that.

Both the word I can't remember and the symbol I can were on the cover of an art book I had apparently done. When I woke up I tried to make notes and sketch the pieces in the book I could remember. I remembered five of them pretty clearly. The rest are just bits and pieces.

What I'd like for my birthday

  • May. 27th, 2009 at 11:28 AM

It's now under a month until my birthday (which is on June 26th) and I thought I'd make a post about what I'd like to get, for anyone who might like to get me something.

I would like drawings of Q.

In the pre Star Trek movie hype they were showing lots of episodes of the different TV shows on various channels and one of the TNG episodes had Q in it, and it got me thinking about how much I like the character. So if you have a favorite Q appearance from any of the series I'd like it if you'd draw it for me. Even if it's just a stick figure that somehow looks like it thinks it's better than everyone else. Perhaps Sheriff of Nottingham Q, boxing Q, or Civil War Q. Or if you don't have a favorite Q appearance might I suggest judge Q, which is my personal favorite look of his.

I don't know if anybody actually does want to do something for me as a birthday present, but on the off chance they do I thought I'd mention this idea I had.

Tablet Fixed

I forgot to mention that my tablet is back to normal. I'm not sure whether it was the driver reinstall, accidentally dropping it, or just time that fixed the problem, but the important thing is the touch strips no longer react before they're touched. I know [info]zerosketch mentioned his touch strips being overly sensitive too, and maybe somebody else might be having the same problem, so I'm going to put the possible fixes that the Wacom tech guy gave me behind a cut.
This is the previously mentioned cut, behind which the info can be found )

You know you want postcards!

On the 11th the price of postcard stamps is going up, so I'm going to try and use the ones I have left before then. Which means you should comment on this entry with your mailing address if you want a postcard. I don't care if you live across the street from me or across the country, I've got strange and interesting postcards that need homes.

Comments will be screened for privacy, and even if I already have your current address I'd appreciate if you'd include it so that I can easily view all those interested and their addresses.

Touch strips gone mad

  • Apr. 25th, 2009 at 1:34 PM
trouble
So I've randomly got internet again. I wanted to post to see if anybody's heard about the problem I'm having with my tablet. At first I thought the touch strips were hyper sensitive to touch from when that guy tired to be "helpful" and jam my laptop bag into the almost full overhead compartment. Now I've discovered that what they're doing is reacting even before I touch them. I hover my finger over one and it thinks it's supposed to perform the function it's programmed for. They seem to be gradually getting less crazy sensitive, but that could just be wishful thinking. I didn't even know that the touch strips worked that way. I thought the word "touch" in their name meant that that's what they responded to. I'm starting to wonder if when they ran my bag through the x-ray machine a bunch of times, trying to figure out what the tablet even was (apparently it looks like a laptop on an x-ray and they were very confused) they did something to it. I tried updating the driver, but that had no effect. Any thoughts would be welcomed. It's not a big problem, really, but it is quite the mystery.

Entertainment for you and me!

It looks like the Discovery Channel's "Alaska Week" is gonna start a week from today. That means the Mythbusters myth that they filmed here in Ketchikan is gonna air. I don't know if there are other myths in the episode, but you should all watch it to see a boat made of some unusual materials attempt to zoom around the Tongass Narrows. I won't spoil the results and tell you how the boat does, but I will say that the motor provided by Alaska Outboard (the business my Dad co-owns) didn't fail. If the Discovery website is to be trusted the episode is called "Alaska Special 2" and will be airing April 15 at 9pm. You'll have to check what that translates to for your timezone. I know it means 8pm for me.

From left to right: Adam, some Yamaha guy I don't know, Pete (my cousin-in-law), Jim (my Dad), and Jamie

And now, hopefully, for some entertainment for me. I need some new podcasts to listen to. I'm gonna be going on vacation in a couple weeks, and I'll be having many hours to kill in airports. I think some podcasts would be a good addition to my time killing tools. My current favorite one is the SModcast. Other than that the only one I really listen to is Breaking the Panel, which I started listening to because Anthony is one of the co-hosts and continue to listen to because I enjoy it. Though I've found I much prefer to listen to it live instead of later. So any podcast suggestions would be welcomed.

I'm working on a new design for my site, and I'm on the fence about keeping the tutorials section. I'd really appreciate you all letting me know what you think. The tutorials aren't for me, so it's up to all of you out in internet land to decide if they stay.

Here's a link to my site if you want to take a look before giving your opinion.

I don't know if any of you are Wonderfalls fans, but Amazon has the series on sale for $16. They also have the "Definitive Gold Box Edition" set of Twin Peaks for $56.

There's a very good chance I'll be getting myself some Wonderfalls. I'm on the fence about Twin Peaks, though. It's an okay price, but not quite amazing enough to make it irresistible. Some pondering will be needed.

Snow Cheshire Cat

It was between a cheshire cat and a cylon centurion. Apparently it was destined to be a "C" sculpture. I finally decided on a cheshire cat, though, because I could see the snow was close to being slush and a centurion was a bit too difficult. It's the next on the list whenever I make another thing out of snow, though.

This is a sort of a cross post with my art journal, but I haven't posted any photos of myself in awhile so I'm putting this one here too. It does have more of me in the photo and is lacking the extra images of just the scarf, so I think it's different enough not to be annoying to those that watch both of my journals

We shall all now ignore how much I need a haircut.

ETA: Oops, it helps if I resize the image before saving it. There, that photo shouldn't be so giant.
